Youth Spotlight: CNAY Scholar Maria Walker Spends Summer at Columbia University

Maria Walker, a rising high school senior from the White Mountain Apache Tribe, earned a full scholarship from CNAY to attend Columbia University’s Summer Program for High School Students. While at Columbia, Maria studied business, finance, and economics while making friends and great connections that are sure to help her achieve her career and academic goals. CNAY in Action: CNAY Conducts Gen-I Native Youth Roundtable in Salt Lake City

CNAY teamed up with the National Education Association (NEA) to elevate Native youth priorities at the annual Governor’s Native American Summit in Salt Lake City, UT. While in Utah, we also co-hosted a Gen-I roundtable discussion with NEA and Native youth to learn about the issues young people care most about, explore their perspectives on school climate as Native students, and hear about positive efforts they’re leading to address challenges in their own communities.
