On July 12, CNAY joined national partners and Native youth for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) “Great Think” for Indian Country.
BGCA’s Great Think series is their thought leadership forum designed to inform policy, programs and strategic collaborations that address critical issues facing youth today. The Great Think for Indian Country focused on a common goal of turning thought into action to better the lives of Native youth. Conversations from the forum will help develop policy recommendations, build opportunities to provide more services in Native communities, and strengthen public-private collaborations. CNAY greatly appreciates BGCA’s efforts in Indian Country!
At the summit, CNAY staff met Maria Walker (White Mountain Apache), who serves as an ambassador for BGCA in Indian Country. Maria is CNAY’s 2016 Columbia Summer Program Scholar, attending an intensive academic program at Columbia University in New York City. When the summer program is over, Maria will share her Columbia experience with CNAY to help inform other Native youth who are considering applying for the scholarship next year.
