2016 PREVENTION INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration‘s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) is accepting applications for the 2016 Prevention Internship Program for Tribes and Tribal Organizations.

The Prevention Internship Program, a component of SAMSHA/CSAP’s Prevention Fellowship Program, invites qualified individuals, with strong interest in substance abuse prevention and behavioral health, for a 10-week paid internship program in participating Tribal Organizations throughout the United States. Since 2011, the Prevention Internship Program prepares interns to provide capacity-building Technical Assistance (TA) to support integration of behavioral health prevention services within tribal organization systems. Interns will benefit from hands-on experience and trainings in competency areas such as behavioral health prevention, the Strategic Prevention Framework, workforce development, and evaluation. Interns will also learn new techniques, master best practices in the field, and apply knowledge gained from their professional and cultural experiences.

Interns are accepted on a location-by-location basis. Please refer to the list of participating locations that will be accepting interns. Interns will receive a stipend of $15 -20 per hour and will be required to work 40 hours per week from June 1 – August 5, 2016.
