Travel Funds, not to exceed $2500, are available for both American Indian non-profit and Tribal youth organizations. In an effort to connect American Indian Youth to the places of their ancestors and to introduce them to the work of the National Park Service, this program provides travel assistance to help defray the cost of getting American Indian Youth into National Park Sites.
By partnering with the NPS you will be able to organize outdoor experiences for your young people during the summer of 2016. Once a park is identified by your organization you will be paired up with park staff to help plan your single or multi-day visit including activities for your youth. Your young people will have a chance to learn about their traditional homelands, the management of the NPS and work toward building outdoor leadership skills in preservation, recreation and education. Each visit will be unique to the needs of your organization and the capacity of your chosen park unit.
