Kwey! (Hello in the Penobscot Language)
This NOW message contains information about the first-ever National American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Suicide Prevention Hope for Life Day!
September is suicide prevention month, and the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention recently announced the first-ever National AI/AN Suicide Prevention Hope for Life Day. This will be an annual event held on September 10, in conjunction with World Suicide Prevention Day.
A Hope for Life toolkit has been created for young leaders, program staff, organizations, or other community members who want to raise awareness of Hope for Life Day. The toolkit includes engagement strategies (including Native youth), tips for meeting with tribal leaders, promotional materials, and suggestions for cultural activities. Note: toolkit resources are listed and linked on the right side of the web page.
We encourage you to share your Hope for Life Day celebrations and recognition events/meetings with CNAY! Tell us about your work via email, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. We want to promote your leadership to prevent suicide in Indian Country.
