Washington Post Article Addresses Native American Youth Suicide and Highlights CNAY

This morning, the Washington Post published a news article
highlighting the high suicide rates among Native American youth, which are 3.5 times the national average, with some tribal communities having rates up to 10 times the national average. Senator Byron Dorgan, CNAY’s founder and chairman, described the problem through the tragic story of Avis Little Wind, a 14-year old who took her life. In the article Senator Dorgan went on to say “there is no sense of urgency by our
country to do anything about it.”
