January 24: CNAY Hosts Policy and Resource Roundtable on Native Youth Health and Wellness

On January 24, CNAY hosted its 12th quarterly Policy and Resource Roundtable in Washington, DC. The meeting was the first in a 2014 series focused on racial equity for Native American youth. Participants heard presentations from the Department of Health and Human Services, SAMHSA, the National Indian Health Board, and Inter Tribal Sports, a non-profit based out of California. Following presentations, participants discussed Native youth health and wellness priorities, in addition to strategies for addressing them through collaboration and existing programming.

There were nearly 40 participants from Federal agencies, national tribal organizations, and young people from the Washington Internships for Native Students program at American University and the Native American Political Leadership Program at George Washington University.

The next meeting, themed “Supportive Native Communities,” will be held on April 11.
