On October 5, 2012, the Center
for Native American Youth held its seventh resource roundtable at the Aspen
Institute in Washington, DC to focus on Native American youth policy
The policy roundtable revived discussions and dialogue around the Native American Children’s Agenda Policy Portfolio and discussed the Center’s Voices of Native Youth report. The audience comprised of tribal organizations, federal agencies and Native youth interns in the Washington, DC area. Roundtable participants listened to and discussed Native youth priorities with the Senior Policy Advisor for Native American Affairs at the White House, National Congress of American Indians, National Council of Urban Indian Health, National Indian Health Board, National Indian Education Association and National Indian Child Welfare Association. This important roundtable conversation helped the Center and participants build the foundation for more fruitful discussions and future roundtables in the upcoming year.
The event was successful and many
participants told the Center that the policy forum was extremely beneficial.
